Khat is an herbal stimulant that is used frequently by men to supress their hunger. Khat has become more and more common in lots of places in Africa, including Djibouti, and some places in Europe have even gone so far as to ban it.

Djibouti sees lots of frequent floods that come out of nowhere. There is also some volcanic and earthquake activity, usually between 4 and 5 on the Richter scale.
